Telemarket going to China for business.
« on: May 27, 2013, 08:23:23 PM »
Something that was recently brought to my attention and may possibly interest you. Telemarket is one of the biggest if not the biggest TV shop for antiquities such as painting, carpets, art, etc… in Italy for which I am most familiar with (Telemarket that is), and they also sale across Europe. They were in business for over 30 years. They have recently decided to close their business and are selling everything in their inventory. The reason, the European economy. They no longer feel that it can be profitable selling to Europeans and have decided to move their business to China and start attracting Chinese collectors who are hungry for new investments. This means they need to buy Chinese collectibles to built an inventory which I'm sure they have already started.

Telemarket were experts in promoting whatever they felt the need to promote, so that they could sell any item at very high prices. They promoted many Italian painting artists who were nobody's at the time, but thanks to Telemarket became icons in the "Italian" art world. Prices for their paintings could of been bought for almost nothing, and later down the road sold between $100,000, $500.000, etc…
I expect they are going to be doing something similar with Chinese collectables. Buy everything and anything that smells a collectable and sell it to the Chinese. Nothing wrong with that in the name of capitalism, and if Chinese moderns coins happen to cross their path…. watch out…. I don't see why not, we all know the Chinese love Gold and Silver and I'm sure Telemarket have done their homework.

Here's something else that crossed my mind. Could it be that now that Telemarket is closing shop in Europe and selling everything up to 70% off,  these collectables were never meant to be priced that high, and even with such a discount they may still be overpriced and people paying these prices may never see a positive return in several generations to come. If Telemarket adds Chinese modern coins to their list, the top may be unimaginable…

Below is  the translation from google. I did not want to spend the time translating it when google does it pretty well.

Telemarket closes. We are going to China: 100 employees to stay home.

The emergence of China visa (also) from Roncadelle, the historical network and the historic brand in Brescia telemarket who is preparing to make bags and luggage, to take pictures and carpets for sale in the land of the big dragon, a hungry market and that the luxury and its cognates are already buying up, the first in the world for luxury cars and supercars, the world's first for smartphones and tablets. At the end of January, the first announcement, live, the way the total liquidation, here we sell everything, discounts up to 70%. A few days after the skinny statement posted on the official website: "After 30 years, the Board has decided to cease the activity, began liquidation sales price." With a direct invitation to fans and viewers: "Take the opportunity."

In line with what we saw from 1982 to today, from tv Elephant gets it right to telemarket hands of the young Giorgio Corbelli, a project that grows year after year to become national television in 1987, to cover almost two-thirds of Italian territory in the early 90s. From Roncadelle to Milan, from Rome to Naples, the showroom is open and multiply, Corbelli dell'italica rising star who is interested in entrepreneurship as well at sports, Rome (and Brescia) of basketball but especially the Naples football, shareholder majority at the beginning of 2000 until the damn relegation following the 'hole' financial. In the middle also telemarket 2, located in Bari, buying Semenzato auction house and the entrance shareholders of Sotheby's, one of the major Italian fashion then just failed in 2012.

A local-national television that has seen among its members memorable people like Vanna Marchi, at the beginning, Vittorio Sgarbi, who took care of even a decade ago a strip, 'Sgarbi ministerial', conductors and telemarketers who have already made history, the Roman Francesco Boni or Tuscan Alessandro Orlando, among other things ironic idols of fans fan club and not virtual. "So you could not go forward - said the patron Corbelli on the closure - One can not work under these conditions, with a police state and a government that treats the rich as if they were criminals." Declining sales and growing losses, dall'exploit of 2005 (about 90 million, the record) to negative in 2011 (52 million in revenue, nearly 6.5 losses).

The blame surely the recent crisis, but also and above all "the redditometro the Government of the technicians, the final blow, Who has removed two-thirds of our customers." That's the problem, "the air that you breathe in Italy against those who buy jewelry and works of art." The same people who apparently do not just talking about a super tax for boats tens of meters casting off moorings and moved in Croatia. Telemarketers instead goes even farther, to the Far East, first a soft announcement, "we met with potential partners," then something clearer, "we have arrangements with a station of Jinan where we could sell everything we have in stock. "

A stock not bad, a hoard millionaire thanks "to the sale of Telecom networks and frequencies (in 2005, NDR) that brought us 115 million" and a warehouse really full, we speak of at least 100 thousand pieces, including paintings and prints, carpets and statues, tapestries and jewelry. In the annals of the statement by Vittorio Sgarbi in March 2002, when the scandal broke out of the false Cascella, Schifano and De Chirico, "Corbelli had at least copies of beautiful paintings, in a world in which you play the shit."

Telemarket does have the ability to change price structure.  Rare and semi rare authentic Chinese items should see price increases and demand.  Hopefully they will get to MCC last..........

This is a very bullish development for MCC.  Dealers like KeyDatePanda and Clark Smith had commented recently about the impact of possible telemarketing campaign on MCC:

It's unclear to me from this passage if the company was selling forgeries. Better translation, anyone?

BTW, Georgio De Chirico (if that's who is referred to here) has been famous for a long time.

Best wishes,

Here's the translation which seems indeed the company sold a couple of forgeries, intentionally or not.....

"In the annals, the declaration of Vittorio Sgarbi in March of 2002, when the scandal blew up regarding fakes of Cascella, Schifano and De Chirico. At least Corbello had a few beautiful paintings, in a world were they riproduce garbage (shit)"

It would make sense to sell paintings of famous painters while promoting unknown artists. A good way to show how valuables paintings can become! Or another way to charge collectors ridiculous amounts of money...

Lots of positives for this market from my viewpoint.   Here is a link to another point of view.  IF China's economy falters, how will that affect the MCC market?.......

Going off topic a bit but this is interesting as CCN today said China is buying up our food supplies.   I posted a few months ago that China has the ability to do that.  IF their soil is damaged then buy elsewhere.  Smithfield is being sold for over a $ billion.  They are a huge pork producer so expect high prices in the future as the pork will be shipped overseas.  IF China's economy and Yuan continue to rise then more food suppliers will be sold.  This will be bullish for MCC but not food supplies.............

1000 X $1 million = $1 billion (i forgot to add this)  IF $1 billion can be spent on Smithfield's then why not $50 million allocated to buy back MCC?   Or even $10 million?  That would change this market.......
