Fatman dollar or Yuan Shih Kai silver doolar
« on: May 15, 2013, 11:19:11 PM »
Hi All,

Recently my friend show me few Fatman dollar date 1914 and 1919  after I do measurement on weight they are 26.7. The diammeter is 39.1 mm and the thickness
is 2.75mm which is not very normal.. I expect 2.5mm..They are not attracted on magnet...Based on this data can I conclude that their are fake. Or did fatman dollar exist on this thickness more than 2.5mm but is genuine ...
Once i get the photo will share here...

Thanks and regards

Dear Giantgg,

I checked with few YSK dollars in my collection:

1 dollar YSK 1921 “T” version
T: 2,47mm, D: 39,13mm, W: 26,9g

1 dollar YSK 1919
T:2,42mm, D: 39,10mm, W:26,7g

1 dollar YSK 1914
T: 2,55mm, D: 38,91mm. W: 26,7g

As you can see my YSK 1914 exceeds a little bit thickness 2,50mm.

I do have other 2 fatman dollars: 1921 which has 2,62mm thickness and Xinjiang variety of YSK 1914 which has 2,60mm. However nothing more than 2,62mm.

The authentic of your friend's fatman dollars 1914-19 could be questionable. I would like to see pictures to tell you more.
