Large dates :
NGC 3685786-002
NGC 4173630-009
NGC 4173630-007

Small dates :
NGC 4088093-050
NGC 2779212-005
NGC 3594778-015

So there are suppose to be a large date and small date varieties in the 1993 1/2 oz silver panda... they said the difference is that the number 1 in the large dates are wider compared to the number 1 in the small dates... but I just can't see that difference...

Can anyone help me with this?

I also can not see any difference, and was not aware that large and small dates existed in the 1993 1/2 oz silver  :001_smile:

I think the numbers in the small date variety of 1993 S5Y panda is a bit smaller and fatter than the large date variety.

I think many 1/2 oz silver pandas have minor differences.  A friend of mine told me the 1994 1/2 silver panda has more than 10 varieties if a minor difference can be called a new version.

Here is a little difference of 1993 1/2 silver panda.

I think NGC photo can be quite deceptive regarding the thickness of the date.  I thought my 1985 1oz gold panda have thin date, http://china-mint.info/forum/index.php?topic=7894.0, but now I'm pretty sure it is just a photographic distortion.
