Snake
Sheep
Monkey

Would be open for trade any of the above for following 69 or 70 5oz silver rectangular:
Dog
Rat
Tiger
Dragon (2012)
Horse
- (Prefer PCGS..but open for NGC)
- Open for trade with better graded 5oz/12oz lunar silver from 1888 to 1999
- My intention is to deal only with in US unless some has irresistible proposal.

If any one willing to trade, pls PM your proposal. The price difference should be reasonable market price. We can use march pricepedia as bench mark if the value is available.

I can send the picture,PCGS cert# if requested.

Thanks for checking!

vkind,
I saw your listing on eBay.  Could you provide detailed pictures of the 2001 (BTW, you listed it as 2002) rectangular snake?  There are two interesting things about the snake.  1.  It has 3 varieties as determined by the distance of "50 yuan" from the snake head on the obverse, and 2.  On the reverse there are doubling of strike.  I believe this is an example of die doubling which is quite unusual.  See this discussion thread.  http://china-mint.info/forum/index.php?topic=8062.0

Sandac,

Thanks for pointing out the incorrect year on my listing. I will fix it.

Also - I will post some pictures latter today. I took from my iphone now,  and it did not come out great. Will ask my D to take it from high resolution camera and post it.

Thanks,
Vinodh

OK, this is the more common variety where the "50 yuan" is further away from the snake head.  However, most of this variety has an interesting die doubling feature on the reverse.  Your picture is a bit blurry, but I can see a column disappeared and the stair posts are wider on the right side.  Can you confirm the stair posts have triple lines like the picture below?

Wow....these are so minute to notice.

1) The coin that is posted originally in above post (and its pole missing.jpeg in here)
- Pole missing
- I notice that right side stair poles are wider

2) I also have one that I plan to hold (pole.jpeg)
- Pole is visible
- right side and left side stair poles are of similar width.

Two questions for you:
1) What software and/or camera you used to enlarge the image? your pictures are so clear.
2) Do you think, this will come under variety. As I am collector...and thought I have duplicate, listed it for sell. Any thoughts on if I should hang on to both?

Thanks for your insight.

I am aware of four varieties:
1.  The one you are selling on eBay, 50 yuan far from the snake's head and the die doubling on the obverse.  This is the most common variant, even though the die doubling is obvious which is quite unusual for modern coinage.
2.  50 yuan far from the snake's head without the die doubling.
3.  50 yuan close to the snake's head, but wide text and no die doubling.
4.  50 yuan close to the snake's head but narrow text and no die doubling.

All these varieties are on my want list (my want list is much bigger than my budget  :( ).  I personally want to collect them, even though they are not recognized by NGC/PCGS.  I don't own any 2001 Snake, the pictures are from Stack's Bowers.

Edit:  I believe 1,2 are sufficiently different than 3,4 that they will be recognized eventually as different varieties.

Update:

I now have horse and dog.

Looking only for 5oz rect. silver:
1) Rat
2) Tiger
3) Rabbit

Not sure if PCGS has any of the above graded......I am willing to consider NGC 69-70. And I am willing to buy instead of trade if price is right.

Thanks!
