Mint names for 1990 1 oz gold panda
« on: March 10, 2013, 03:16:35 AM »
Hello,

I found this 1990 1 oz gold panda in Coin Compendium that has two types, large date and small date, but I think the types should really be "serif 1" and "no serif 1" types.  I would like to change the names of these subtypes in CC but I would also like to include their mint names (1990 1 oz gold panda MINT NAME serif 1) in it.  But I do not know which one belongs to Shanghai and Shenyang mint.  Can anyone here help me figure this out?

Here are some links for more references:

Basing on the 1987 S (Shanghai) and Y (Shenyang), the Shenyang tends to be the nicer blank and strike. So for the examples you linked, I believe the no serif is Shenyang. If I am mistaken then somebody more knowledgeable should come along and correct me.
