This seller "colorful8878" sold 300 fake coins in about 5 days (starting July 4). All listings are one day duration. See the completed listing in the following link.

http://completed.shop.ebay.com/Coins-Paper-Money-/11116/i.html?LH_Complete=1&_catref=1&_fln=1&_ipg=25&_since=15&_sop=12&_ssn=colorful8876&_trksid=p3911.c0.m282

This seller was mentioned in other topic in this forum.  We need more ebayers to report this seller.

The following is the response from eBay received on July 7. My report was filed on July 4.

Dear eBay Member,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to suspicious coin listings.

Because eBay does not employ or train its Trust & Safety Customer
Support Representatives to be experts in the area of coins and currency,
we rely on expert opinions from knowledgeable people as well as reliable
third party organizations.

Your report will be reviewed by a group of members that comprise a
community watch group for coin auctions. They then confer amongst
themselves and either agree or disagree that the listings are
problematic. If it is agreed that a listing(s) is fraudulent or
improperly described, the listing(s) is then forwarded to eBay Trust and
Safety for removal.

Please be sure to check our Prohibited, Questionable & Infringing Items
pages for information on eBay listing policies and guidelines:

If you received an informational alert or warning, and you have
additional questions, or you have another listing to report, please
contact us at the following link:

In order for us to get to you in a timely manner, please do not respond
to this email. If you reply to this message we will not receive your
email. All communications should be sent to the link provided above.

Again, thank you for your report. We appreciate your help in keeping
eBay a safe and reputable forum to conduct business.

Sincerely,
eBay Customer Support

Here is a side-by-side photo of a 2010 bogus bear and a genuine Panda. The counterfeit is on the left.

Notice (1) how high up the Yuan symbol on the counterfeit is, (2) the texture of the fur and (3) the gap between the letters. The differences in the fur seem particularly obvious to me.

Best wishes,
Peter Anthony

1986 gold panda is a sure FAKE.

http://cgi.ebay.com/China-Gold-Coin-1986-100-Yen-/360279492864?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e254c900#ht_500wt_1154

A terrible quality counterfeit. It has the wrong reverse design for a 1986. Uggh.

$892.61 of counterfeit Chinese coins sold in one day
« Reply #6 on: July 09, 2010, 06:34:41 PM »
On July 8 colorful8876 sold $892.61 of counterfeit Chinese coins on eBay. This person continues to list items there and sell them. EBay shows colorful8876 has sold over 300 coins in the last 2 weeks. I hope that none of them were to readers of this forum.
Best wishes,

The completed listings for this seller "colorful8876" had 359 fake panda and lunar coins

http://completed.shop.ebay.com/Coins-Paper-Money-/11116/i.html?LH_Complete=1&_catref=1&_fln=1&_ipg=25&_since=15&_sop=12&_ssn=colorful8876&_trksid=p3911.c0.m282

There are 105 fake coins in the active listings.

I start wondering that this seller may be the owner of the counterfeit factory. Nobody can have so many fake coins.

I feel eBay is unwilling to remove fake coin sellers, they are eBay's bread and butter.

Since eBay doesn't respond to our alerts I went to colorful8876's Feedback Profile to see who is buying from him/her. Listed there are 8 purchases by 7374x who has 526 feedbacks, all of which are positive. I then went to 7374x's Feedback Profile. 7374x  is a member of eBay since 2006 and has bought a variety of world coins from various sellers. Definitely a legitimate buyer.

There is a "Contact Member" option on the Feedback Profile page. I clicked it and wrote the following to 7374x, "The items you purchased from colorful8876 are the subject of a discussion at the Chinese Coin Forum. Please look under the heading of "Fake Coins" and the topic, "Blizzard of Bogus Silver Pandas today." It would be enlightening to hear from 7374x as something peculiar is going on at eBay.

Perhaps the only way to get eBay's attention is for buyers to start filing claims for reimbursement.

Best wishes,
Peter Anthony

"colorful8876" also listed the fake silver bar mentioned in the other topic in this forum. In addition, this seller is located in China and apparently has a partner in US. The buyer "tdh020" left a positive feedback on 7/10 for a fake panda ended on 7/8 10:22 PM PDT. There is no way that this buyer have received coin.

Filing claims for reimbursement?

eBay and paypal does not care!. I am the eBayer who bought the first 1987 1/4 oz gold Sino-Japanese Friendship medal ended on June 13. Few days after I paid the item, eBay removed the listing but left the seller “aleexandera” active. What a Stupid act. I could not even leave a negative feedback to the fraudulent seller. No way to find a link to file a claim through eBay after the item removed. I called eBay and filed claim through paypal. Because of the seller sent me a copper plated fake from China, I have to spend $30 to send it back to get my money back through paypal. eBay and paypal lose nothing. I complained and I don;t think eBay or paypal cares at all. At least I do not feel that way.
