Fraud alert
« on: May 23, 2010, 02:01:11 PM »
These two sellers, kigb001 and apollo1904, seem to be either the same person, or working together. Don't bid on any of their high priced items. It seems they've been selling low priced items to boost their feedback, and then switched to high priced fraudulent items. The listings are riddled with errors, and they're even using the same pictures for items on both ebay accounts:

Nobody who really intended to deliver those coins would continue to list them when they're selling them that cheaply. Most of them are selling for around half the gold value.

Seller "apollo1904" will be suspended soon. You will probably never see any coin sold at ebay at this price again (1990 1 oz gold panda at $1,000,100). This is definitely a wake-up call to eBay. My feeling is somebody in this forum involved, just like "blackaunt" listing in last December. (Update: This item was removed by eBay on 5/26, four days after reported and three days after the end of the auction.)

124 of 1 oz Chinese gold coins sold by scammer "apoolo1904"  with a total net of $111,323.93, without adding $1,000,100 for 1993 1 oz gold panda.

http://completed.shop.ebay.com/Coins-Paper-Money-/11116/i.html?LH_Complete=1&_trkparms=65%253A13%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1&_catref=1&_ipg=&_ssn=apollo1904&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=3

39 of 1 oz gold coins sold by scammer "kigb001", counting two 5 coins multiple listing, with a total net of $41,008.12.

EBay has not done anything to stop this scam up to now.

As I know, there are at least 3 victims with combined damage at 3.5k+ already filed claims against apollo1904, and dozens of claims from other eBayers against both ids.  If ebay acts that slow, I am pretty sure we will see more frauds like this.  There are probably many scam ids are already in the pipeline.

I just received six identical messages from eBay. A total of 39 items from “apollo1904” were removed, out of 54 items reported. The reports were filed on May 22.

Dear eBay Member,

Thank you for writing eBay to report these potentially violating
listings to us.

I have thoroughly investigated your report, and have confirmed that the
items were in violation of the eBay Selling Coins policy. As such, I
have removed the listings from the eBay site.

If you happen to see any listings you may feel violate our Coins and
Currency policies, please feel free to report them via the following
link:

http://www.ebay.com/ccw

Please note that ONLY Coins and Currency violations should be reported
here. Other types of violations sent here will be delayed as they are
redirected to the appropriate department.

Please see the following page for eBay's policies regarding the sale of
coins:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-coins.html

Thanks again for your report.

Sincerely,

Akira
eBay Customer Support

I also received some auto emails from eBay:   :001_cool:

Dear XXXXX,

Thanks for your interest in this listing:

250634301485 - 1996 china Gold Panda Coin 1 oz .999 BU - NR

We're sorry to tell you that the item isn't available for purchase anymore. We removed the listing because it likely fell into one of these three categories:

-- The listing doesn't follow eBay guidelines.
-- The item isn't allowed on eBay or can only be listed under certain conditions.
-- The listing contains pictures or words that may have violated copyright or trademark rights.

This is disappointing for everyone, but sometimes it's an action we have to take to protect you as a buyer.

Important: If you won the item and haven't paid for it yet, you don't need to complete the transaction. If you've already paid for the item, we encourage you to contact the seller to get more information about the transaction. If you don't receive the item, your purchase price plus original shipping may be covered by the eBay resolution process:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/resolving-problems.html

We're sorry for the inconvenience. eBay still has lots of other great deals. Just go to http://www.ebay.com to shop. We hope to see you soon.

Thank you,

eBay

Please don't reply to this message. It was sent from an address that doesn't accept incoming email.

Another item to possibly be concerned about is a 1997 1 kilo gold coin on Ebay.  Item # 250639372277.  The seller says estimate $ 10,000 - $ 15,000.00.  The melt value is over $ 38,000.00.  Something is off with this listing.

Yes, the item # 250639372277 is another scam. This may be a hijacked account. Seller “abkb04” has no activity during last 18 months. Now is selling an one kilo gold panda.

http://shop.ebay.com/abkb04/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=200

This seller just sold this "Platinum American Eagle 4 coin set all NGC MS70" on May 24th for $3,206.21

http://cgi.ebay.com/Platinum-American-Eagle-4-coin-set-all-NGC-MS70-/250635948216

The same set as above on a BIN of $3,199.99 is listed curretly outside US eBay site.  The list will be ended on May 30.
