Thanks, comeaux. The boxes look very real.  Can't make out the coins.  Will any of these show up on eBay soon?

I wonder if the boxes and COA's are genuine? A lot of forgers have been swapping out the genuine coins, and putting the fakes in the boxes.

Thought a consolidated list would be easier to check for fakes sellers, with latest scammers on top of the list:

Thanks for taking your time to compile the list - great work!

I had a recent experience with eBay when I reported this item# 350484836521 (most likely silver plated but seller lists it as "silver panda - 12 troy ounce") Well, eBay came back with this reply:

"I have thoroughly investigated your report and the listing and found
that the listing is not in violation of our Selling Currency policies.
As such, no action has been taken on the item. In this situation, eBay
is not in a position to judge or verify the statements sellers may make
about the metal content in their precious metal items. If a buyer
receives an item that is not 12 ounces of silver, the seller would be in
violation of our policies for misrepresenting their item and would need
to provide the buyer a refund."

In essence, it's saying it's not in violation unless the buyer finds out he's screwed and reports it. Go figure.

Hi, thanks! It would be better if you can attach the link or more evidence when brought up the names.

The link will be useless when the item has been removed. Just be aware of the userid(s) and be cautious.

Just contacted the seller to let him know that his coin is fake and suggest he remove it. We'll see what he does.

Fake.

Why? The details.  When you have the real coin in your hand and you make a mold from it, what you then have from the mold is a second generation.  Just look at the Chinese characters, forget the other obvious flaws, even though the picture is blurry (another way to tell something is fishy) is to look at the raised details, especially those with a small open area in the middle like a Chinese character.  My friend is an artist who sculpts in many mediums and on of the cool things he showed me how to do was to make rubber molds, although for metals they use plaster usually, depending on the type of mold.  Which is why they tell you to check the edges, because some mold makers are too lazy to pour the mold in such a way that the combination line would be at a corner seam.  Which is more than likely why China went with the angled serrations.

And no I have never made a mold of a coin, frankly my skills aren't up to metal, I just stick to rubber molds and resin, did make a hell of a kick ass Bowen Black panther bust and some horns for Gaiking who has been without too long.  Yeah used to be a comic book geek too, though they are brutal, a life cycle of a comic can last 6 months, the advent of grading turned your 10.0 comic 2 months old into a $1200 wunderkind.  6 months later you couldn't pay someone to take it.

Anyways sorry to bust up in here, usually one word from Peter is enough, I know I learned a lot from his book, wish I would have had it sooner.

Broke down and bought the plum blossom dragon, but now I want the 5oz Silver Dragon, wise idea, design isn't too much different than the Chinese plum blossom just lower mintage and that has to be the coolest 5 oz of silver I've seen, or I could buy a Kilo Koala or 40oz of Silver...  Any ideas?

Ugh, sorry I'm trying no to think of what I spent back in the day, oh last year when silver was near $50, on Silver Pandas, crazy how which ones seems to fade to the background and a new rarity takes over...

Oh, and sorry Peter if you were expecting the non HK, actually so was I, thought I sold the HK on eBay (which was just a place holder) until I could get the regular version.

Anyways, gotta run.  Think my Koala Opal is here....I'm bad.

Sadly, for him, obviously bad fakes at that, don't think he would snare any here in his web, but sadly may have gotten a newbie or 2.  Thanks for sharing this fraudster.

What about these three ebay sellers (they seem to move a lot of lower priced MCC coin).  I've seen them called out for selling fakes on at least one other site but never here (maybe they let some fakes slip through unknowingly).

Trustworthy?
