I don't know. It probably has something to do with the incorrect en translations. If you're ready, I can delete them, and hopefully that will make it a bit easier.

Please delete those then. I will try again.

OK, the delete is in progress. Just a hint, the easiest way to get to the zh-hans translation is to click the "Simplified Chinese" link on the main page, then click the "translated version" link. That's easier than using the "Translate this page" link, because you don't need to remember ISO language codes and you don't have to sort through hundreds of them to find the one you're looking for.

Badon, I translated the home page into Simplified Chinese. There was one bug, though. Under "Quick Index", all the entries are from CCT1825. I checked the code and did not see any problem in the translation. Can you take a look?

I think I found the problem. It should be fixed in a few minutes be the translation will probably need to be reentered:

OK, it looks like I fixed it, and nothing needs to be reentered. I just learned about one kind of error I can make that I didn't know about before. Also, now that the translation of the main page is nearly complete, I suppose the next test will be to internationalize the CC template so it will give a translated version of the type names. That's going to be an interesting challenge. Once I figure out how to do that, I can use the same methods to tackle the rest of the site.

The bug is fixed. Also, I am done with the translation. The home page looks good, except for the links to types in the Fake Alerts section which are in English.

This is an exciting milestone. I'll begin plans for redesigning the CC template so it can detect the page language and give translated versions of type names.

Is there some markup syntax I could use to mark alternate type names as written in different languages? I added some varieties for old imperial coins, and if I could use something like {typename:en-us}Beady eyed dragon{/typename} and {typename:zh-cn}圆眼龙{/typename}, it would be clearer than putting the various names in the introduction section.

There is not yet. I need to redesign the site to accommodate translations, so your idea is an important one for me to keep in mind. For example, I could redesign the CC template to automatically give the type name for the language page that it is being used on. But, I could also add a feature where you could specify the language. Maybe it should work like this:

{{CC | CCT2152 | lang=zh-hans }}

Then, if there is a translation available in zh-hans (simplified Chinese), it will display that version of the type name even if it's on another language version of the page. I think that will be very useful for displaying type names in the native language of country that made the coin, which is important for educational reasons.

What do you think?

I would prefer the 2nd way: specifying the language. As you said, it is important for the original name of the variety to be displayed, for education purpose but also to have good search results.
