2000 silver scallop dragon $1300 UNGRADED!
« on: August 19, 2011, 03:02:46 PM »
10 of these sold for almost $13,000!

http://www.stacksbowers.com/Auctions/AuctionLot.aspx?LotID=223735

Just a few weeks ago you could buy as many as you wanted for $700 to $900. If prices double for a 69, that puts the 69 prices at $2600. If prices double again for a 70, that puts the 70 prices at $4200! But, usually, prices do more than double in silver coins, especially for the 70's. The premium for 70's is usually 3 to 5 times the price of 69, but can go as high as 11 times. So, those numbers are probably conservative.

Shocking!

Here's the auction discussion:

Whoops, my mistake. It's not the first time I've done that. I just read this part of the title: "Lot of 10 Yuan Proofs" and only saw this part "Lot of 10".

So, we're looking at a price of only $649 per coin, which is much less exciting. Kind of makes me wish I had bought them now.

I thought the same too until I read the details. I agree $649 is a steal. Does that include the premium?

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing no. Maybe somebody else knows? If a premium needs to be added on, then these coins sold for a bit less than they would have individually. Probably a dealer bought them, so maybe they'll all end up getting graded.
