Panda America / pandaworldcoins2011 connected?
« on: August 19, 2011, 12:43:42 AM »
There are some interesting parallels between pandaamerica and eBay user pandaworldcoins2011.
Similar descriptions, similar photo styling, same city/state.
NGC Registry numbers for Panda America pandas:
3356501
3356502
3356503
3356517
3356518
NGC Registry numbers for pandaworldcoins2011:
3356522
3356523
One distinction as pointed out by a fellow board member is....
*pandaworldcoins2011 only accepts paypal
*pandaamerica no longer accepts paypal
Besides who else would have 60-70 G50Y 1/2 gold 1996 pandas laying around?
Thoughts....?

I was intending to ask, but it was down a bit on my to do list.
Thanks for doing the recon, Halves!

Nice sleuthing, as usual.  :thumbup1:

Who indeed could offer so many MS70 rarities, out of nowhere?

They tripled the number of NGC 1/2 1996 gold pandas and platinum baby pandas in one submission.
They increased the 1996 1/2 MS70 population from 1 to 5 and the 1999 1/2 MS70 population from zero to two.
That is how they got the grades.
This didn't go un-noticed especially with the consecutive NGC registry numbers and coins in the 200+ number
on a single submission.
Standby, I imagine more years will follow.
At least we can keep track of how many more are out there and who probably owns most of them now.

One thing I see missing is the statement about minimum order value required to avoid california sales tax on the new pandaworldcoins2011 auctions.

Did your pandaworld purchase come with a Panda America invoice?

Panda 1/2,

No it did not come with PA invoice, just the normal one from ebay. However he is a good dealer to buy from.

It does not have to be Panda America. May be - one of relatives/family of the owner branching out personally. We need you Peter here!

The selection they have released for auction is nearly mind numbing... Lots of scarcest years Pandas and medals  in 69 and 70s.

Most are just gorgeous.

But how did this one get awarded a 69?  Maybe with all the submissions, the graders eyes just glossed over and they kept stamping 69s....?

Who knows what the connection is. I have never had an issue with Panda America personally.
Note how the latest onslaught of pandaworld coins now boast inconspicuously altered yet intentionally blurred registry numbers.
Why the potential alternate account and secrecy?
Who knows, they seem legit though...

My flight back from the ANA was delayed and it landed at 3:15 a.m. I will post some photos and comments later. On this topic, I heard from someone reliable that this is PandaAmerica but it slipped my mind (it really did) to ask about when I was talking to PandaAmerica.

Best wishes,

The sheer number and variety of coins being posted suggests that there is likely a connection.

Would there be any relevance if they were connected?

Same thing can be said about flying, we still do it everyday.

I'll continue to get products from them until I see reason or facts why I should not

I sent pandaworldcoins 2011 an email from my ebay account and asked him if he was Panda America and he said " I am not Panda America. I am just a retailer and a collector." signed Tien.

The simple explaination is this seller submitting to NGC via pandaamerica, since pandaamerica is a NGC dealer. It has been known for long time that big dealer usually receives more favorable grade than individual collector.

I don't think Panda America sends in collectors coins because even though they are an NGC Dealer, most collectors have to send in their own coins including me. Maybe he buys from them??

Ok I dug into this a little and in only took a minute for me to find out some shocking things ( at least to me)

1.  "PandaWorldCoins2011" is the former owner of Panda America, Martin Weiss.  He is retired now and I guess he is starting to sell some of his personal collection on Ebay after seeing the success we had.

2.  I found out why the listings look almost the same as ours.......lol
My ebay guy Henry, is listing for him on his off time......( I guess he is not smart enough to make the listing look different then ours......so stupid....when I asked him about it today he first said it was his girlfriend....( who happens to live with him)....at that point I said I don't need to hear anymore.

3.  So next minute I fired him.

Thanks for pointing this out on here guys.....I guess now I have to go hire another ebay listing person.....(one that is smarter lol)

3.

As for us getting the good grades......I don't think it's because of who we are.....my take on it is that because we send in a huge quantity of coins there's bound to be some good grades in there ( gifts as we call it in the industry).

I just sent in 5000 coins and have another 10000 to send.....so watch out for them pop reports boys......

Thanks for the biz to all you who were in Chicago.  I am always glad to meet our loyal customers.  Sorry if I wasn't at my booth all the time as I had a lot of meetings to attend to.

As for the serial numbers of the coins being close, yes we did submit a lot of coins on behalf of the former owner of Panda America as a favor but I think I will stop doing that from now on.

Quality investigating.

The joys of the internet and employment ... so much harder to hide the moonlighting ... especially when not putting a tremendous amount of thought into it.

I'm sure the internet has got to add an extra level of difficult to trying to date two women at once, also.  Sure am glad, I settled down before the extra drama the internet must be adding to the dating scene.
