To my eyes: The rims are uneven, there are obvious high uneven spots, my conclusion is they're fake, so that means they're likely real.
I'd ask Poconopenn to blow up the images and make a conclusion along with Badon.

The photos aren't quite good enough to be 100% sure, but I am 75% sure they are fake.

Pagodas are turning out to be the most sought-after, but hardest genuine coins to obtain. I have not seen a genuine pagoda since late 2010 or early 2011.

If all 3 are fake; then it is no biggies.  Bought all 3 in 2008 for US$70.00 total from a "trusted" Taiwan seller.

I do not see anything wrong with these three coins. If the "trusted" Taiwan seller is "wuzetain555", most likely these are geniune coins. Enlarged section pictures are attached. The lines and angles are not typical as fake coins.

For comparison, see the discussion below

The manufacturing methods being used on the pagoda fakes involve the destruction of a genuine set of coins (maybe more than one). They are very accurate, machine-made copies of the genuine coins, so looking for differences in the design is not always the best way to find a fake.

Many fakes are not machine-made copies, and they have obvious differences in the design that are easy to see.

PandaOrLunar, could you attach your photos to a reply to this topic, so we can see them right here on the same page?

If it is fake, then my decision to submit to NCS/NGC just got simpler.

... If the "trusted" Taiwan seller is "wuzetain555"...

It is amazing and how small of a community out there when we said "trusted" seller from this part of the world or that part of the world, we know who we are referring to.

I'm not 100% sure they are fake, because I would need better photos to determine that.

Haha, yes, that is amazing. The nice thing about trusted sellers is that they will refund your money anytime if your coin is discovered to be fake. You should contact your seller and ask about that. I would mention that you're thinking of sending it to NCS/NGC. Some sellers welcome you sending it to NCS/NGC for an independent determination that the coin was fake. Some sellers would rather receive the coins back in their original seals. It's a good idea to find out what your seller would prefer if they end up having to refund you some money.

Good to know.  I believe I'm going to submit to NCS/NGC and see once I have enough coins for submission.  How confidence are we on NGC able to distinguish between fake and real at this point in time?

They are learning. I know they have mistakenly certified at least one set of fake pagodas. I sent them my super-secret diagnostic criteria, which should help them authenticate your set once they get a good look at it.

Click on "Additional options" when making a post and then you should see the option to attach files to the post.

Hi Badon,
here is a picture of the "COA" and one of the pagodas.
Would you please check and see whether it is real.
I can upload the rest of the pagodas if necessary.
Thanks Much
