According to two fen from Shanghai, the rarest alu coin by mintage, this is (or was, as most coins sadly sold) the Shanghai PROOF set.
I wish I could get this two fen coin or one yuan coin that is described as medal.
Nice catch Golden Lord!!

Thanks aragog,

China coins is a endless knowledge Story. I was not sure what the coins are. I have think they are just BU or mixed with proof coins from the coins of all nations set - because there was no rat medal.
But i have never think about that this is the rare Shanghai Proof Set.

The 1 Yuan was too quick sold - no Chance.

Ive see the other 6 Coins still avaiable - than after i thought should i buy it, there was sold the 2 Jiao.

Than ive buyed the 5 Fen and 1 Jiao and damn.. not the 2 Fen.
Later the same day that the 2 Fen was sold too.

After your post the 1 Fen and 5 Jiao was sold quickly too. Hope you get it?  N31

Because of this and my missing knowledge ive got only the 5 Fen and the 1 Jiao Coin.
But im here to learning and this is a great place for it.

If i grade the two coins, must i choose by NGC Variety? For the Shanghai Mint?

What are the current Prices for the coins? I have here the Standard Catalog of Modern Chinese Circulating Coins 2nd Edition. But there are no Prices for the Shanghai Set.

At 001.com ive found some Prices:

Complete Set: 18.900$
1 Yuan: 7905$
5 Fen: ???
2 Fen: ???
1 Fen: ???
5 Jiao: 3580$
2 Jiao: 2968$
1 Jiao: 4519$

but are this Shanghai Prices? And how much are the Fen coins?
Im worried, here is the complete set for 3480$ - why the difference to 18.900$?

Not sure how you got the prices from coin001.com. They look much too high.

Here are some links to recent sold listings. The prices are in RMB. You need to do the conversion.

1 Yuan: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=65112
5 Jiao: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=65905
2 Jiao: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=62422
1 Jiao: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=69008
5 Fen: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=62870
2 Fen: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=66250
1 Fen: http://coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=auction&testcoin=1&skip=1&skip=1&action=detail&auction_status=3&aid=62868

The pricing of the circulating coins depends heavily on the condition. The price may jump from one grade to another. Those sold on the eBay Germany site did not look to be in PF68/69 conditions. Please take this into consideration when viewing the coin001.com prices.

Ive found some Prices here.

The 2 Jiao is based just on a PF 64?
http://www.coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=bigauction&action=detail&aid=1124&skip=1
It coast 19.321 Yuan

1 Yuan PF68 (58.000 Yuan):
http://www.coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=bigauction&action=detail&aid=1122&skip=1

Ive got the other high Prices from here:
http://www.coin001.com/hack.php?H_name=bigauction&testcoin=1&skip=1&auction_status=3&auction_type=4&auction_credit=money&end_time=&auction_credit=&auction_status=3&category=&searchkeyword=1984&page=1

why are the Prices so -extremly- different?
Those high-priced 84 proofs are a special variety, called Koubo Variety. This is the article that discussed this variety: http://www.coin001.com/read.php?tid=46888

That variety was produced by Shenyang Mint, not Shanghai Mint.

As mentioned  by fwanf2450 and the link provided, there are three versions of 1984 proof sets; Shanghai Mint (b1, designed in Sun’s book), Shenyang Mint (b2) and Shenyang Mint (b3,冠波版). In addition to the design differences, the condition of the coins are also different from each other. B3 usually can be graded as PR DCAM, but other two versions are in PR CAM. B3 also receives highest grade, followed by b1 and then b2.

It should be noted that the design of BU 1984 fen coins are identical to Shanghai Mint (b1) proof fen coins. The pictures in this seller’s listing are not good enough to see if they are proof version.

It is my understanding that there is not BU Yuan or Jiao made for 1984.
