We have 3 sales for this coin in 2019 so far, 22 in 2018.
Wow ok. That is a lot more than I thought. Where were these coins sold please? Is it mainly through forums or privately ie eBay or the likes?
Regards

There are a group of white dots near the + (plus) sign. Are these on the coin, or the capsule? This would be less of a concern if it was on the gold part of the coin. Also, the company that sold the coin must have removed it from its original packaging and put it in the airtight-style capsule that it's in now. That's another instance of handling the coin.

Thanks Peter,
I'll take a look at the coin and see where the dots are.  it was The Westminster Mint that sold the coin.
What would the original packaging have been like?

What would the original packaging have been like?

A soft plastic pouch with a hard capsule enclosed. The capsule did not have any from around the coin, but fit snugly.

That's a shame. You might consider sending the coin to NCS to find out if the spots can be removed. Otherwise, the coin may grade less than PF69, so you will have to figure that into the value you place on it. Good luck.

$1600-$1750 in current condition with spots. Your best bet is to submit it for NCS/NGC. Best of luck.

White spots on pre-2006 silver coins can be readily removed by NCS.

This rare bimetal coin in the same package fetched more than $10,000 at the peak of market in 2011. IMO, This is a bad time to sell this coin unless you really need money for an emergency.

Hi,
What made it so valuable back then? Was it the metal price or just a spike in demand for chinese coins?
Not an emergency more that I want to buy something and haven't got the money lol.
Cheers

It was a market peak for modern Chinese coins.

poconopenn,
Interesting, First time I read this. Never happened to me for pre-2000 China silver coins.
Do You have a Statement from NCS on this ?
Thanks

Chinese coin/medal market has been like bullion, up down, up down.      It is bound to move up again.    Have your coin conserved/graded by NGC.     If you are not a NGC member maybe a trusted friend or dealer that is a member can mail it for you.     This way you can gain more when the market returns......
