There are several sellers over the last week posting ads with counterfeit NGC, PCGS holders. In some case two or three coins are listed with identical ID and certification numbers by the same seller. Because multiple sellers post some of the same offerings as well, it would appear organized teams are working the auction site for quick sales. Depending on the sales profitability, they might not return.

To your question, are any offerings real? Who knows? Even if they were, the item might be rightfully intercepted by customs agents or lost. The seller might disappear to evade responsibilty for counterfeit merchadise. With such sellers, you’ll need to weigh the probabilities of law enforcement effects even on otherwise real offerings. (Hint: don’t buy anything you are either unwilling to be disappointed by or confiscated.) Remember that the seller‘s honesty is already under suspicion. Pictures, weights, diameters on which you might make a determination are suspect. The large number of rare counterfeits is likely to have eBay’s attention after reports,  ;) mine included ;), are reviewed.

The very first Panda coin I  bought was a fake, an excellent investment....I learned a lot from that coin.

Reported to eBay 5 days ago. EBay has not done anything.

I reported to NGC and they reported to Ebay.
The fake 2000 mirrored 70 was then removed by Ebay.
Seems that NGC has more clout with Ebay than we do....

I assume that if we report the fake PCGS coins to PCGS, they may intervene with Ebay as well....

With few exceptions, most of the counterfeit auctions have low bidding. But it wouldn’t surprise me if some of the more numerous bids in those exceptions were shills for the seller. Yet another reason to avoid counterfeit auctions.

I suspect eBay has a similar conflict of interest governments used to have about tobacco!
