From the moment I saw the 2018 coins in person it seemed the coins look much nicer than expected from the photos on the web. Here is my first attempt to capture the better qualities of this design. I hope others will try and improve on this one and post their results:

Peter

I wonder whether we will see varieties in the eyes?  This design creates a great opportunity to quickly discover varieties.

The frosting of the panda side will hopefully block the reflection of the camera lens. I'll definitely try photography when I buy this coin.

Dear Peter. You are also a mastermind when it comes to Panda coin photography ! Thank you for sharing this. I tried to shoot an HD video with some up-close footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUp-pSEgcBc

The video looks excellent. Well done! All of these take work, but I think last year's was more difficult to light well. There is some sort of new engraving process used on the dies for this coin and it seems easier to bring out the details.
