Panda Coin Names or Titles
« on: April 21, 2017, 03:30:50 PM »
Do Panda coins have titles? I've been collecting them for several years and hadn't thought about it until I saw this 1993 set (seemingly a custom set distributed by Fleetwood in the US) with titles listed for the 3 coins. I especially like the title "Nurturing Little Ling-Ling" and I assume that this was a real panda's name?

It was interesting what they did for that year. Maybe as there are more designs over the years, it became more difficult to think of unique names for similar scenes?

Are these original straight-from-the-Mint titles? Or are they part of the aftermarket packaging by a dealer?

The titles for Pandas originate with third-parties, often for marketing purposes. The mints stick to descriptive terms.

I thought that might be the case, thanks for confirming.
