Fat Man Dollar - YSK
« on: January 31, 2017, 10:16:32 AM »
Hi,

A super newbie here. Found the 2 coins in my father's cache. He mentioned one is real and the other is fake. Not sure which is which and whether both are fakes. Would like honest opinions. No offense will be taken. Thanks in advance   ;)

Coin 1

Coin 2

Welcome to CCF!
Coin #1 is an obvious fake.  The blurry and grainy features suggest it is likely made using sand casting.  Coin #2 probably is genuine, but it is so heavily polished that it has very little numismatic value.

Welcome to the forum.

The reedings of the second coin do not look right either. The space between the reedings appears too wide.

Thanks for all the replies. My suspicions were right. Anyway, not holding my breath on these coins either.

The edge of the coin 2 suggest it should be the real one .
