There are currently to sources for price references

1). Pricepedia
2) CCL

They are available on a subscription basis.  That being said if the coin you mentioned was a fair price it would no longer be available.

If you are interested in buying this coin (or any other high priced coin) seek opinion privately from peers you trust and respect; attach the url for them to verify. Then approach the seller directly or through surrogates he trusts. Further reduce the impact on your pocket by paying with check or bank transfer. Payment through paypal (3% charge) offers you peace of mind protection. A lot of the high-priced coin deals take place outside eBay.

Best wishes!

In 2016, the range for SOLD 1998 1/2 oz Gold Pandas Small Dates is $8500-$10,000. Keep in mind 2016 marked a frenzy for 1/2 oz gold pandas that peaked around Summer. So , $10,000 was around peak. Prices have come down since then. Fair value is probably around $7000+-. 2017 will be  a buyers' market. Patience will pay off.

The price of 1995 panda goes up a lot, but 1998 panda set went down probably 20% from 2011. Listing price on eBay usually is quite high. It's kind of like fishing, listed the price 20% higher or even more, see who will come and take the bait.

I guess the supply side has holding power, so they are not selling at lower prices.

I sold two ms69 sd in the last 3 weeks in the low $8000s.  Ms68 I can sell for low $7000s right now.

I don't think 2017 will be a buyers market.  Supply is tightest I have ever seen.  Collectors in the US are not interested in selling.  There are several coins I am looking for that are impossible to find at reasonable prices.

I sold one set of 1998 gold panda as individuals on Zhaoonline, LD ones, not long ago.
SDs should be a bit lower in price, but these days you don't know.
It seems that I should instead sell it to US and buy from Zhaoonline.

Shipping China to US or US to China has a high degree of risk now.  I am no longer shipping to China, Hong Kong is the only international location I will ship to. So trying to set up cross pacific business model is and will continue to get exponentially more difficult.

Hi Arif, may we know which coins you are looking for and what should be their resonable prices?

It is a conflict of interest to promote which coins to buy, these days I am like 90% investor/collector and 10% dealer.   When gold rises coins enter the market at rate faster than I can absorb them so I am forced to sell to fund future purchases, with supply right now so limited I am forced to expand into beyond the gold pandas that I typically buy.

Hi Arif,

Hope you are enjoying the weekend. I'm glad to see that prices are solid since market has dried up. I have a 98 1/2 Panda MS68 Small Date conserved from NGC , would you suggest holding it at this time? Than you and happy collecting.

I have a 98 LD 1/2 PCGS MS69 which I have no intention to sell or even consider to sell until the price rivals a 95 since it is much rarer. The 98 1/2 is clearly #1 in my eyes. Disclosure - I don't own a 95 1/2.

On Saturday I sold my 1998 1/2 LD NGC MS68 for a strong price.  I don't collect MS68 and sold it for that reason.  I used the money to buy a 1999 1/2, 00 1/2, 04 1/2 and 05 1/2 omps - I think in the long run I won't be disappointed with the trade.  Cashing out key MS68 1/2 probably not the best move, but trading them for semi-key 1/2s may turn out to be a good move.
