Topic: Please help identify this coin !

Hello  -  I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this coin  ; I have a bunch of them from my great grandfather ( who would be 154 years old if he were still alive ).
I'm not sure if it's right side up or not as I am not familiar with these coins. It is about the size of a nickel.

Thank you  -   Lots of good info there !  So looks like I have a jar full of reproduction coins then. Oh well , I'll give them to the grandkids - then in 60 years or so from now they can go through this whole exercise again !
