2004 G20Y Gold Panda 1/20 possible variety?
« on: December 16, 2017, 03:05:10 PM »
Photos of 2004 1/20 Gold Panda.     See reverse date.     I was told this could be a unrecognized variety.    Maybe a double die?   Poor photos but hopefully it will show.     What do you think?....

It’s called ejection doubling which is a common error for this coin. It is not a double die.

The error is also detailed in Peter’s book.  Not sure if you have a copy but it’s somewhere in the back I think.

What percentage are ejection doubling?    Any rough estimates?      Could it have more value then the correct version?......

All the Shenyang I have seen so far had this feature.

How many?    18,000 surviving pop.   correct?
10%   Ejection doubling     = 1,800
20%      "           "             = 3,600

1995 1/2 oz gold panda   1,750 surviving pop.        Not a fair comparison but the numbers are interesting.......
