Martin Weiss sets
« on: October 13, 2016, 08:25:42 AM »
I posted a question a while back if Martin Weiss sets would have any collector value.    No answer.    It makes sense to me that Martin's sets will have value as he was a major player of MCC.    Supply of MCC will eventually drop so after-market sets may rise....

Ebay 201689392844    Martin Weiss trimetallic w/ box/coa   -bid-        First time i have seen a MCC dedicated to Martin.

Keep in mind the collectible 1974 - 75 Chinese Exposition large medals w/ horse on swallow are minted in Great Brittan not China as one example......

Ebay 191982451704   I & D set  $15,597     350 sets minted.    Sharpei Dog 5 oz silver included see photos....   Is this a Martin Weiss set?    Are there others?     I am a bit early in my question/opinion but his sets could pan out......

Three are many other Martin Weiss-connected coins, medals and sets. I will ask him about this one. In 2012 there were bronze, (1,000) silver and (a single) gold Panda medals issued with Martin Weiss' signature on the rim. These were struck by a private mint in Shanghai and are very attractive. My understanding is that they were not exactly authorized, but that is another story.

This would had been an interesting medal (trimetallic) if they used a different observe that is more traditional in align such as a great hall, building, or others.

My 2 cents.

I believe this is a quad-metallic medal with four different components. It is supposed to be a demonstration piece.

Yes, they will. I had both the smaller one and the Piefort  graded by NGC last week.

I read these are private mint not China Mint.   Does this mean that private mint has will be equal to official mint in time?     They are all graded.    Dragonzeng may have a piedfort......

Only $35 for the piedfort? Ouch. I've never used jibi.net, is it feasible to be a buyer there from the USA without knowing the language?
