I have been looking since it was added to the registry set but with no luck. I have asked NGC about who had them graded ( assuming that one of the large dealers had a monster box or more graded) but have not gotten an answer yet. Maybe our inside man, Peter Anthony, can find out for us. I really expected them to show up by now as it has been a while since they were added to the set.

This isn't something that a consultant can find out. I do have an ungraded 2016 silver Panda that I know for a fact was struck in Shenyang.

I saw that Modern Coin Mart has this set for sale on their website: 2016 China Silver Pandas Struck At Shenzhen and Shanghai Mints - Set of 2

Best wishes,

Hi Peter,
I didn't mean to put you on the spot over this issue. As a consultant myself, I appreciate the sensitive nature of your position with NGC. The 2 coin set from the other mints has been on the market for a while and the Shenyang was added to the NGC registry set a while after the others. I have read that the way to identify ( to the NGC graders satisfaction ) the different mint versions is a marking that appears inside the Panda version of the monster box. The box is submitted to NGC unopened and mint sealed and then they open it and verify the mint of manufacture. In addition, it has been my experience with NGC adding a coin or medal to a set, that NGC must have graded at least one of that coin or medal to make it eligible for the set. That would lead me to believe that a monster box from the Shenyang mint has been submitted and some of those coins have been graded by NGC. My question to anyone that is in a position to know is, who had them graded and/or when will they be available for purchase by the general public?

MCM does not miss a trick:)  to get the coin for your registry it appears you might have to spend $300 for  $120 worth of coins  N17

It wasn't working then. Now it is working. I also went directly to the MCM website then and it was unavailable. Must have been a temporary glitch somewhere!

This set has been available for a while. I purchased them when they first went on sale at MCM. About a month later, I noticed that my S10Y Panda was no longer 100% complete. The Shenyang S10Y Panda variety had been added. I have been looking for that coin ever since. I would have thought that MCM would have had the Shenyang graded and had them for sale at a price of $150 or more. Or they would have added the Shenyang to the other two and made me buy all three to get the Shenyang. I hope I haven't given them any ideas. Anyhow, the Shenyang is a no-show as far as I can tell. Again, someone at NGC knows who had them graded since they added the coin to the set. If anyone at NGC reads these posts and can give the forum any insight ( without breaking any NGC rules on confidentiality ) as to how many 2016 S10Y Shenyang Pandas have been graded. I have continued to check the NGC registry inventory of the 2016 S10Y Pandas that have been graded. They list the Shanghai and Guobao mint varieties but no Shenyang or Shenzhen for that matter.

Just speculation, but it is possible the Shenyang coins were graded for sets in China and will never be promoted outside.

In that case it is possible that someone like Xu Hong can find out more about this elusive mint variety if directly contacted.

Peter,
I have asked several dealers in China about this coin in NGC graded slabs and nobody has seen one. I would think that they would still show up in the NGC population report even if they were graded in China, would they not?
