The least tasteful aftermarket panda ever created
« on: December 13, 2015, 01:55:45 PM »
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I don't criticize anyone for collecting aftermarket pandas. After all, we're all collectors and if you like them that's great.

So this is just my opinion, but the 2015 "Burning Panda" takes the cake for least tasteful aftermarket panda, LOL

Perhaps the designer said, I have an idea, let's BURN the beloved panda. N26

Again, I don't blame anyone for buying it. There are a lot of bids on them on ebay, so I know some folks from this forum are buying them. Perhaps if you are a collector of both muscle cars and pandas, this is a must have for your collection :-)

These after market pandas will go well with some exotic tattoos and heavy metal rock!  N16

They also help reduce the surviving population of potential ms70 pandas (thanks to wg for pointing that out)!  N17

Check your headlong dash to grab this "gold 10 Yuan" panda coin! It is not a bargain 1g Gold fractional. It is a 2016 gold plated 10 Yuan 30g SILVER Panda coin (BTW the seller states so on the sell page).

Definitely, post-mintage Panda coin modification is a growing trend and I have no strong opinions about it. I am just watching erstwhile "bullion" classifications drift towards "numismatic" as the pool of gradable coins shrink. Way to go!

Just when I thought the aftermarket panda treatments could not get any worse, they have come out with the "BURNING PANDA SKULL", yes that is its official name.

Try to think about the good things behind those destroyed Pandas:
Every spoilt coin is one less on the mintage number  :001_smile:

I can't understand why anyone would buy a pristine 8,000,000 mintage coin for $5-$10 over melt, these things should trade like silver eagles or maples at $2 over melt max.  No matter how many tens of thousand are ruined by after market gimmicks or fancy slabs the coins will always be bullion and trade at melt plus a few dollars in the wholesale market.

I would buy one of these before I touch first strike label, either way they are just bullion, but this actually has some creativity behind it.
