New Ritz Bar token
« on: October 01, 2015, 01:33:04 PM »
On the corner of Ave Edward VII and Rue Chu Pao San (Blood Alley) was located New Ritz Bar.

This place was very popular by foreign sailors and marines.

We can clearly see the location of the New Ritz Bar on these 3 old Shanghai photos...

There is 10 cents token issued by this bar.

Great picture of Shanghai in the 1930s.  The buildings suggest the bar was located in the "red light district" at the intersection of Rue Chu Pao San and Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu (the Bund).  Your token collection gives you a great opportunity to study the history of China and an easy way in which to remember this history.  I am envious.

I believe that the building is still there and the left side café is still a café with a different name.
