British Trade Dollar 1898 Chopped ?
« on: August 04, 2015, 12:39:52 PM »
Hi guys, technically this British Trade Dollar is not a Chinese coin I know but supposedly chopped in China ?
Authenticity verification much appreciated and whether or not chop marks add or take away from the value ?

British Victory dollar was circulated in Asia during later 1800 and earlier 1900. The denomination on reverse side is in Chinese and Indian characters. The chop marks in picture can be from China, Japan or Korea.

This coin, IMO, may not be genuine. When a coin shows a strange wear pattern and highly polished surface, usually the coin is a reproduction.
