Just came across this book by Chen Jian and others. Most likely there are other information sources such as this out there.

This book is for large size (diameter>70 mm) copper medals. It was posted in this thread.

There is another book (picture attached below) posted by pandaorlunar in the same thread. Both books are for large size copper medals.   Since those medals are considered as artworks, the name of designers and engravers are listed next to the picture of the medal to recognize their contributions. In many instants, the designer and engraver are not the same person for obverse and reverse. Therefore, it is highly possible a single medal can have multiple designers and engravers.

Buy the book, before buy the coin/medal.

I have tried several times to post a modification of the designer list and I am getting the following error message. Any clues as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

My plan is to update the file I have on my computer with all corrections and additions every week or two, depending on the volume and post again. A bit clumsy but that is the only way I know for now. Maybe re-upload every month until it becomes more stable. Unless there is a database in CCF that can be updated without creating many copies. Will keep on exploring options.

Do you have a reference for the book or where it can be purchased? Thanks.

I have no idea if it was ever for sale. It appeared to be a private printing.

I would also like to add another medal to Rocky Zhao's work. A couple of years ago he made a demonstration 1 oz. silver medal that he called his business card. It was struck at the Shanghai Mint, of course. Mintage unknown, but they weren't for sale. Once upon a time there was a photo of it in China Pricepedia. I will try to find that photo and post it here.

Best wishes,
Peter Anthony

Fang Maosen
1984 brass Einstein medal

Zeng Chenghu
1984 brass Maxim Gorky medal

and the 1983 brass Fortune and Marital Happiness was designed and sculptured by Luo Yonghui not Yi Shizong

by the way,It is common that one coin/medal was finished by several artists and engravers, especially these medals from Shenyang mint, some were finished by a team.

and for these copper medals(60MM diameter and more than 60MM diameter),from 1979 to 2015,only the official mint,Shanghai and Shenyang mint, struck more than one thousand varieties copper medals,it needs a large time to sort them out.

Thanks for the additional information and correction. The fortune and happiness medal attribute will now be reflected under Luo Yonghui instead of Yi Shizong.

I have noted the team approach to finishing of coins and medals (in some and not all cases?). This will be noted when I have information to that effect.

My aim is not to catalogue every single Chinese mint artist, designer and engraver. I am trying to identify especially those that were involved with coins and medals that are popular with collectors.

Great contribution. +1 and Thanks again.
