What a pity with the spots. Anyone got some story about the actual mintage of these? I' ve heard it could be about 3000...

I heard the mintage was 3000, from a reliable source and heavily hoarded in China.
It makes one wonder if they are so hoarded why aren't they surfacing now their price is so high.

The same source stated the 2007 CITIC panda at 2000 and the 2008 Beijing Banknote panda at 5000

The NGC populations  for these  3 issues are very small.

3000 mintage and $948 OMP.   There are several silver MCC w/ lower mintage and much cheaper prices like the 86 5 oz ANA panda OMP or 87 5 oz Long Beach OMP w/ 2,000 mint each.    Popular because it is a bank coin?........

I recalled reading somewhere these "bank" coins were intended as a gift to employee and others?

yep very rare  both the 2007 Citic and the 2007 Xian city are both the " key dates " in the commemorative silver panda series   ..............    BTW I am buyer of non spotted gradable coins either one or of course NGC graded . I need both for my personal collection ...........  the banknote is probably the 3rd key coin in the series with arguably the 1991 piefort in 4th place

In my opinion (as a collector) you might see it more as an investor, focusing a lot on mintage. Personally, I havn't got much interest in Ana or Long Beach, not being american (the Sino-American friendship being an exception).
If I would want to complete my event pandas like Joe, I would have to pay some dough.
And thanks to Utah for refreshing some of the (apparently) rarest out there.

I am a collector first.   The early year large silver are more appealing to me than the 07.    That said most newer issue have better designs and detail but the big silver are my addiction.    Just curious why some have a large demand while others do not.........
