Hopefully sending some gold coins to the USA for grading, will I have to pay import tax when it comes back to the uk? If yes,  why because they are my coins

No you should not have to pay any tax if they are investment as per this linky...

http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageLibrary_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000108&propertyType=document

You need to get the current Import Tariff number to add to the package that will apply.

Mind you I wouldn't hold out much hope of Border Agency reading the label, as I doubt you'd want package marked as gold for security. Just keep the invoice and make a refund claim using form BOR286 and wait for a refund linky here...

Why not send to PCGS in Paris then no hassle at all coming back into UK?

I'd be interested in how that works out if you go that route as thinking of same thing myself at some point.
