Password is encrypted.  Hope it is hashed also.

Another good reason for having a separate eBay and PayPal id/passwords instead of one when you merged/integrated PayPal into your eBay checkout process.

IMO, eBay has not given the completed story yet.  I received the following fake email from Paypal four days ago. I forwarded this email to spoof@paypal.com for verification and the mail delivery failed. This suggest that spoof@paypal.com may be disabled by hacker. I did change my password immediately before eBay’s disclosure of the attack by hacker.

When you change your ebay password don't forget to also update that information in any sniping program you use.  I neglected to do so, and I just missed out on an auction :(
