Hi everybody!
« on: February 16, 2014, 04:04:38 AM »
I'm a Canadian coin collector and dealer currently in Changchun,  Jilin province in the People's Republic of China.  I have always liked Chinese silver bullion,  so I figured this would be the place to do some research.

Please feel free to contact me with any Canadian coin questions and I will do my best to try to help you.

Thanks and I look forward to contributing.

Greetings from a fellow Canadian, are there any coin dealers in Changchun?

Hi Canadian,  there is an antique "mall" so to speak here and there are a few coin shops there. One is run by a younger guy and he seems like he is on the ball.  His prices seem reasonable and he actually carries Canadian Mint products.  Not that I travelled 10000 miles to buy them mind you.. That was really my first foray to find coins here. This is why finding a site like this has been a bonus for me.  I spent an hour just reading a really good thread about Yuan Shi Kai dollars so I at least have the basic knowledge the next time I go out on a mission.

Welcome to the forum.

Just be very careful in any antique mall. 95% of antique, including silver coins, in the mall are fake. If you can read Chinese, the following link will help you to understand the counterfeit industry inside China. Picture of first article shows the store (factory) for fake YSK. The cost of those fake YSK is about 3.5RMB to  80RMB, depending on the condition. The high quality YSK made with 80% silver will cost about 150RMB.
