2016 World Money Fair Berlin Panda
« on: May 08, 2016, 10:22:57 PM »
The obverse features Berlin landmark Berliner Dom and the logo of World Money Fair.
The background is the silhouette of Berliner Dom.

The reverse depicts panda and Bear, the respective emblems of China and Germany.
The background is two Otto Beh Dies, one Anhalt Coin and the abstract pattern.
Germany is far away from China, but there were close economic ties between Germany and China in 19th century.

Does anyone know where are the Brass and Copper Medals sold?

As far as I know the copper Pandas were gifts to dealers with tables at the show and they were not offered commercially. Each dealer would have gotten one. Perhaps you could check the exhibitor list and contact the dealers? The same was true in Macau last December where the tables received a nickel plated Macau medal. I heard that one or two of those were sold around $400 after the show.

The brass Berlin medals were given as gifts also, but I don't know to who. My notes say that the mintage was 45.

Best wishes,

This probably sets the stage for their becoming high value medals in 5-10 years' time.  N20

Look at the picture in the first post of this thread. That is the original design of the WMF Panda coin.

Pay Attention: That coin is not the original WMF Berlin Panda.

Correct. The auction that banyantree links to is a bullion copper round.
