Yes, this seller is a scammer. This seller has very limited knowledge of coin and has never sold any expensive coin before. Here are some examples of completed listings.

Listed as 1988 5 oz silver panda, but the picture was for a 5 oz gold panda. The auction ended at $800.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110471844862&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

1982 1oz gold panda with a stolen picture. The auction ended at $1,200.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120508299547&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The following two items completed and had no bidder. Again the titles of the listings did not match the  pictures.

Listed as an 1991 1 oz silver proof coin, but the picture shown an 1991 1 oz piedfort gold panda.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120508294995&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Listed as an 1995 1 oz silver coin, but the picture shown an 1995 5 oz silver coin.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120508293790&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Here are the item # for report to ebay: 110471844862, 120508299547, 120508294995, 120508293790

It is hard for eBay to react fast on a scammer who has been planning this for 18 months.  The only way I can think of is what our German friends did on the 1kilo coins the other day.   ;)

Yes, I have noticed the same.

The following three items were ended in less than two days ago. Two buyers (tim599394 and silverdollarkid 58), both in US, and seller (blackaunt) in China already left postiove feedback for each other.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=blackaunt&&sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

The following item ended on Dec 19, 2009 13:59:44 PST and feedback posted at Dec-21-09 19:22

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120508398057. The final value for this NGC MS69 1 oz 1994 gold panda is $1,059.

The following item ended on Dec 20, 2009 08:42:10 PST and feedback posted at Dec-21-09 19:20

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110471872242. The final value for this 1995 5 x 1oz gold set is $960. The item title does not match the pictures.

This seller sold the same NGC MS69 1994 1 oz gold panda four times within 3 days, a clear violation of ebay policy. If ebay does not take action to stop this scammer, I do not believe that we can do anything. Up to now, this scammer have made at least $100,000 in three days. The following is the link to the four completed listings.

http://completed.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=1994+gold+panda&_sacat=4368&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_sop=12&_dmd=1&LH_Complete=1&_odkw=&_osacat=4368

The title as well as picture of this item was taken from the following listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1994-chinese-1oz-Panda-gold-coin-999-NGC-69_W0QQitemZ120492188600QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0de4e3b8

Here is another link to show the same coin sold three times within three days.

I confess being profoundly ignorant.  I have been reading this thread ever since the saga started unfolding itself and I have been trying to figure out what is this all about.  Granted, blackaunt has been using stolen pictures but clearly that is not the main issue.  What is it?  Blackaunt is scamming in what ways?   :confused1:
Title: Re: blackaunt
Post by: poconopenn on December 23, 2009, 12:05:25 AM
"blackaunt" sold more than 120 rare and expensive modern Chinese coins from 12/19-12/21 and made at less $100,000. From my previous posts, it becomes obvious, this seller does not own 1994 NGC MS69 1 oz gold panda (seller ghbus1991 has listed this coin for more than one month and relisted it 10 days ago with a BIN price $2,099). This coin was sold four times within three days by this seller at price about 50% of the current market value. There is no way this seller will ship this coin to the buyers. When somebody is selling something which he/she does not own and has no way or intention to deliver, this person is a scammer. Ebay policy for coin and banknote listing requires seller to post picture of actual item, unless it is stated clearly in description that the picture is a stock picture and the coin to be delivered may not be identical to the picture.

But how can he get the money, if he won't ship these coin?
Title: Re: blackaunt
Post by: poconopenn on December 23, 2009, 01:01:39 AM
Depending on the amount, Paypal may hold the money until buyer posts a postive feedback or seller produces a shipping tracking #. The holding period depends on the amount of the money involved, usually is not longer than 30 days. There is a very good chance that seller may ship a fake coin, since the pictures of all listings by this seller is not in a good quality and the buyers (most likely not a knowledgeable coin collector) may not be able to tell if the coin is a fake or genuine. In addition, the scammer may make offer to the second highest bidder and do business outside ebay to avoid holding period required by Ebay/Paypal protection program.  This is the reason that many sellers state clearly in the listing that no second chance offer will be made to any buyer.

well, anyway, it's over  ebay sent a warning today but I'm quite sure, he did not make so much money. I know at least 3 bidders/winners, including myself, who did not pay

I don't think there is a real alternative to the "high" bid, if it is done this way (one day auctions) with ebay preventing you from posting reds before 7 days have expired. Next time may be, we can split the auctions between some of us and go in well above market value but not to excisive. That should keep most of the real bidders out and I'm actually waiting for such a guy sueing me for non-payment :001_tt2:

Even a seller with high feedback isn't invincible. Also with that sales volume in just a few days it should have caught ebay's attention (well, with some help). Nice job at finding those stolen pictures.
