Title: California fires
Post by: PandaCollector on August 19, 2020, 07:37:54 PM
Best thoughts, wishes and prayers for the safety of all my fellow California coin collectors and coin dealers affected by the fires in the state. I can think of quite a few who are in danger zones. I have not been able to reach all of them, yet.

Best wishes,

It's happening right near where I live. The air is filled with a brownish haze all day, and the sun appears reddish. The rotating power shut-off is ongoing because of the extreme heat. Some of my firemen friends had been called to help the neighboring counties. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who may be in danger due to the situation.

I grew up in the NW and have had relatives in Southern CA.    Thru out my life time the Santa Anta winds were always there.   Fires were very rare.     Only in the last few years have we had fire after fire.       Why not in the past?      I agree w/ articles, it is arson......

It turns out that one of the dealers I was concerned about is on the road to attend a coin show in Georgia.

Arson has definitely caused fires here in the past, however this week, "Nearly 11,000 lightning bolts strike California, igniting hundreds of fires in a state facing multiple crises."

I talked to a numismatic friend in Healdsburg last night. The conversation ended when his phone beeped with a fire department warning to prepare to evacuate.

Once again, my thoughts and prayers to everyone in the fire zones.

Fires are very scary and impacting many lives.  Hopefully they get it under control and everyone gets to safety.

There is a fire north, south, east and west of me.   (Not in any danger)

I am in good shape.

The bay area is going to see some rough days starting now.
