Title: strange fat man coin, fake?
Post by: caffers2 on February 25, 2015, 05:27:28 AM
Hi, I have two fat man coins, one given to me by my in laws and this one. This one seems and feels different to the other one and the edge seems thicker. I found it under the ground along with some qing coins so I assume its an old forgery? I'm guessing it has a silver content or else it would have survived this long.

The first one appears to have been dipped or polished.

So real or fake you think? Seems odd right?

Definitely a fake. Surfaces are unnatural; rim is too wide; probably not the correct weight (should be around 26 grams).
