Are these coins real or fake?
« on: October 17, 2014, 03:34:22 AM »
I got 5 Yuan Shikai coins as a gift from my friend but being the new coin collector, I have no clue if they are real or not or how much they would be worth if they were real. If possible, can someone tell me whether any of these 5 coins are real? Thanks!

They appear authentic.

One would expect a friend would inform you of the coins' authenticity. Ask your friend. Then ask him how he knows.

This is an opportunity to learn more about a topic your friend thought you might enjoy and share experiences learning and exploring numismatics. Related topics of history, economics and metallurgy transform from lifeless classroom lectures to fascinating hands-on play.

With the uncertainties of counterfeiting, these topics can equip you for better selection, purchase and sales decisions.

Hi!

2 coins at the bottom are not genuine IMO. Teeth are incorrect.

I think the one on the left is the only real one. The edge and the flower are good.
