Selling: 1990 2 oz Gold and Silver Dragon & Phoenix Set NGC-69
« on: December 02, 2012, 12:21:16 AM »

This listing is for a friend who is not a regular posting member of this forum, but who has 346 positive transactions on another forum. He has asked me to try to broker a deal for this set. Tomorrow, I will receive the certification number (too small to read from this pic he sent me). As of this moment, I do not know if he has the original packaging (box/Coa) that came with this set, but again, I will find out tomorrow.

The silver coin has some toning around the rim and it had toning when sent into NGS. Therefore, I do not believe this set was conserved through NCS.
If interested in owning this set, please PM for more details or with an offer.

Thank you!

on the topic of toned rims and/or toning in general regarding ncs/ngc

if one were on the fence about about conserving a particular coin w/ a slightly
toned rim... would it actually matter?

in other words is a toned rimmed coin theoretically pf70 eligible? is it a matter
of degree or more a matter of type?

is there a scenario whereby that phoenix could/should have received pf70 but
was knocked due to toned rim?

finally... should/would one expect if that phoenix coin were preserved for the toning
to basically disappear?

NGC site has a nice, detailed photo of the slab.  Based on that, the 2oz silver appears to be the "right high date" variety, and the 2oz gold is the "right date" variety per my discussion about the varieties of the 1990 D&P.  http://china-mint.info/forum/index.php?topic=6886.0

Update: several members have inquired about the pricing of this coin set and have reported to the owner that the current market value for this set is significantly lower than he is hoping to get. Therefore, the owner has decided to hold onto this set, at least temporarily. Please consider this set no longer available so as no to waste the time of the deep-pocketed members here

Thanks everyone for the interest. Sprry I could not help a deal to be reached.
