Please Help Identify... Chinese Cash Maybe?
« on: January 02, 2017, 08:38:33 AM »
I came across these two coins and can't find much of anything on the net to identify them.  Not even sure if the image is correctly oriented or which side is the obverse and reverse.  Any help is much appreciated.

COIN #1, 37mm, 15.8g

COIN #2, 36.5mm, 12g, one side has no devices

Not an expert of ancient Chinese coin, only have Mandarin as first language. The first one should be called fantasy money, 子孙昌盛 means descendants to be numerous.

The second one if being authentic, could be a rare one, only be minted for half a year in A.D. 959.
A period among many unsettling time of Chinese history.
You can check up this from Chinese national museum website (please use google for translate)
http://www.chnmuseum.cn/Default.aspx?TabId=212&AntiqueLanguageID=5751&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
Notice the font is different, not sure whether it's because of variety or what.
Again I'm not an expert, but just to show you something I can find from the web.
