« on: May 04, 2013, 11:18:22 PM »
Does anyone have any information on this coin?  I have read about it, but have never found an auction for one.

Is it Chinese?

I think first lunar kilo silver is 2002 horse.

No, it is Chinese.  It was known as the completer kilo from the 1st series started in 1981.

The only other thing that I am aware:

1999 Completion of lunar cycle S200Y silver kilo ( to commem. 10th Anniversary of Issuance of Chinese 1oz. Lunar Animal silver coins)

Also 1993 - 12oz was the largest size of silver rooster.

I found the info about this coin on numismaster.com under collecting chinese coins.  It shows a completer kilo was struck in both gold and silver.  I don't know how many were authorized or actually struck.

There were kilo gold and silver Lunar Completion coins released by the China Mint in 1992. There was a silver coin that just sold in April 2013.

Do you know what it sold for and how many were actually struck?

The official mintage is 300 but I was told the actual is 180. Mr. Ge lists it as 185 and he probably knows best. The coin brought $35,850 in 67. Excuse me but I can't keep from adding that this is covered each month in China Pricepedia. :)
