Chinese artifact. Coin related?
« on: August 28, 2014, 03:27:34 PM »
I was very curious about this piece I acquired at good will today. I know it is Chinese related and I believe coin related as well. Attached is a picture. If anyone could tell me what it is I would highly appreciate it. I enjoy collecting random foreign art. Also does it have any value?

Thanks,
Clint

Very educated guess says that's artwork, not coins.  Never seen anything like that before.

Sorry I even bother to respond to this post.  My guess is someone already did via PM.

They are mold forms for sand casting bronze cash and knife money currency. After pressing an image into sand molten metal is poured into the formed recesses.
