Input on this coin
« on: November 02, 2012, 12:24:15 PM »
Can anyone give me any input on what they think of this coin in older NGC slab?
Thanks

NGC has no photo of this particular coin. Date seems wrong. Few other things makes me believe it may be a fake. Any help?

I see differences on the whole left side of the temple roof edge and some other areas too,
Wonder though if its just the lighting angle

NGC does have slab photo of coins around that serial number.  See 1856797-004.  The slab back is very different than the eBay slab, and the barcode is different.  for 1856797-004, the barcode has 20 characters and read 01661466001856797004

The barcode of the eBay picture has 18 characters and read 000000691856739005

Maybe barcode has different prefix for different country, but all zero prefix seems strange.

I compared it to mine today. It just does't look correct. Mine is in a pcgs slab so I'm just talking about the coin. It's had quite a few bids so I guess these bidders are quite sure. The seller isn't a coin dealer either. I think I ask for better photos. Lighting/Slab scratches could be fooling me. That date really seems off though.
Thanks for the Help.

I've got it enlarged on my screen, comparing it to my own 1oz 1982, and I agree that the date looks all wrong.    The obverse doesn't look wrong, but it's hard for my eyes to tell...if other people are seeing problems, I'd be wary.
