I just learned that Muriel Eymery passed away. She was PCGS' main representative in Asia for decades and later represented Spink & Son there. From 2019-2021 Muriel also served on the ANA Board of Governors.

Her lively sense of humor, irrepressible laugh, French-accented English and constant energy were a fixture at coin shows in Asia for as long as I traveled there. Once upon a time we went out to lunch in Kowloon and I distinctly remember that conversation for her depth of knowledge about Asian numismatics.

Farewell, Muriel, you were a star and the world will be a much duller place without you.

Muriel was a very kind and friendly person with a smile for everyone.  Oh, my, this is sad and a loss to the numismatic community.  I will miss seeing her again.

After Muriel joined Spink & Co., I saw her in Kowloon and told her about a friend from Atlanta.  My friend's husband had collected British stamps before his unfortunate and untimely death.  I asked Muriel if Spink & Co. could help my friend.  She immediately offered to help.  I was surprised and pleased.  Upon my return to the USA, Muriel arranged for a specialist in British stamps to travel from their New York offices to Atlanta to view this stamp collection.  They took this unorganized collection, catalogued it and sold it at public auction.  Muriel certainly helped my friend.  I wonder how many other people she helped during her career.  Many, I am certain.

There is a discussion started that when travel to Hong Kong is open enough to resume coin shows there should be something done to remember Muriel. Hopefully, that will be in the not too distant future.
