Higher prices coming ?
« on: April 06, 2021, 10:57:10 PM »
The Stack's auction showed some higher prices for MCC.  It looks like we might be coming back after 10 years.

And on the Vintage side of things what an absolute record breaking auction so far! These prices are quite  shocking and exciting, congrats to anyone with quality vintage coin! What’s even more exciting is inventory is so low it’s hard to believe it’s a peak but I guess time will tell.

Strong price for a 1989 Guanyin in 68.  Not sure why.  Prices were encouraging.  1985 silver panda proof also moved up.  Provincial issues are on tap for tonight.  Already very strong pre-bidding

They set a new world record for a Chinese coin  (and a new world record for a Japanese coin).

Whoa.  I see in my notes that I won this coin in an eBay auction in 2009 for $332.  This type seems to have significantly increased in popularity since then, and there is even still 4 hours left in the pre-bidding for the auction...I'm glad I kept it in my collection! :001_smile:

10 years ago, it was like an upsurge after a graduate rising in price over a decade, the collectors were attracted to MCC. And now, it's been a bear market for 10 years, then it might need to have a whole new bunch of market players. The vintage coins' market still holds the magnet for hot money.
