I look fwd to my trip to Shanghai in 2 weeks, unfortunately I will only have time for a short visit to Lugong and with limited funds.

I traded some extra 69s pieces that have done well for some 70s.  These came in the mail today.  The premiums have dropped enough on some of these 70s that I couldn't resist upgrading a few areas of my G1/2 and G1/4 collection.  The collector in me was too tempted, even if 70s are a wildcard with a less certain return.

Hmmm . . . I wonder where you got those from? ;)

Congrats. I had my eye on that 1995 1/4 70 but never pulled the trigger.

I haven't shared in a while.  This photo is missing a few coins that were in a different box, but my G1/4 collection is starting to take shape.  I've mainly been focused on G1/2, and I've only bought G1/4 opportunistically, here and there over many years, when I thought the price was too good to pass up.  Recently, however, I splurged a bit and traded a few extra G1/2 that had done well for some nice G1/4 to fill in some gaps in the series.

Scrolling through some of the offerings of Stacks Auction inspired me to drive to the bank vault today.  Here are a few highlights from my "Asia" box.  I also have an interest in South American and Central American crowns, but showing those would probably be less interesting for this audience.  I bought most of these between 2009 and 2012.  The collector in me (main motivation) enjoyed examining these coins again, although the investor in me will be watching how a few of these do in tonight's session of Stacks.

Happy Collecting!  :001_smile:

I'll share two of my most recent purchases.  Yes, I may need to put one or two of my Chinese duplicates or lesser pieces up for sale in order to afford these, but I have been eyeing these both for many years.  And, from my observation of the Hong Kong auctions of the past year or so, the Chinese seem to be increasingly interested in bidding on quality World pieces.  I think the trend will continue.  Accordingly, I think these are a safe investment, in addition to making me very happy as a collector with a long-term interest in World Crowns.

My collecting approach over the past 20+ years has increasingly been: fewer pieces, but higher quality.  I used to have hundreds and hundreds of lower quality coins from the majority of countries around the world.  I think I made the right choice in shifting my focus.

Happy Collecting  :001_smile:
