The 2016 Panda Coins are supposed to be a lot more different from what we have had so far.
1. Does anyone have credible information on specific characteristics of the coins?
2. Does anyone have any guesses?
3. Should the collection/investment approach change in any way?
So far it seems that the 1oz silver Panda coin is most likely to be 30g. Are we going to have more information back on the coin such as the metal (Ag) and Purity (0.999)?
Some internet sellers are already taking names/email for notification of coin release.
Thanks for information.
Attn: Mr. Anthony; I don't want to put you in a spot but you are probably the best source here?! Thanks.
I published what I have been told about the weights of the new Pandas in the July issue of China Pricepedia. This is NOT confirmed, but it comes from a reliable source. The weights for the new gold Panda coins will be: 30 gm, 15 gm, 8 gm, 3 gm and 1 gm. The system of halving each metric weight runs into a little problem at 4. That is why the 50 Yuan gold may weigh 3 grams and the 20 only one gram. In the past one gram was not a particularly popular size so it will be interesting to see if that is really the new weight for the 20 Yuan.
The weight of the formerly 1 oz. silver Panda is said to be 30 gm.
Best wishes,
Peter Anthony
