Seems I will have the opportunity to visit Singapore during the fair. Since I'm still considering myself a newbie I'd like to gang up with any other newbies or tag along with any veteran who will visit this show.

2014 Singapore International Coin Fair Copper Medal is minted by Shanghai New Century Medals Co., Ltd.
The obverse depicts the venue of 2014 Singapore International Coin Fair: Sands Expo & Convention Center – Marina Bay Sands Singapore. The reverse features the city skyline of Singapore, the Merlion, the Singapore National Flower, “Singapore International Coin Fair” in Chinese and English. These are designed and sculptured by Wang Yan.
Each medal is 60mm in diameter. The inserts contains 0.3 grams of fine silver, 99.9% in fineness, and 7mm in diameter. The total mintage is 500 pieces. This is to certify that this copper medal is up to standard as to its fineness and weight.

A word to the wise --- stick to investment grade Chinese coins/medals; those manufactured by the China mints. Otherwise, you will be holding a nice piece of art- metal with no real value. There are tons of companies in China who produce all types of metals for every occasion you can think of. If you like it as a souvenir, buy it. However, don't expect its value to increase.

A MCC dealer told me several other dealers are quietly purchasing Taiwan coins/medals.   Jim Rogers was quoted on this forum earlier that he is buying North Korean coins/medals because North Korea may not exist in the future.  The amount of MCC mid 2000 to first year 1979 is not enough supply for the future demand.   That means rare coins/medals from other Asian countries will eventually rise in price too but not as high as official Chinese mint.  Why do Mongolian coins/medals have a high premium?........

Pros about this year's medal:
- nice design (as tourist souvenir)
- low mintage

Cons about this year's medal:
- terrible design (as a coin/medal)
- unofficial China mint's product
- cannot be graded by PCGS/NGC

Would be better if this medal is made as a plaque, ash tray or plate.
