Topic: NGC visiting LuGong market 3-5 March, 2014

Hi,
Today I visited LuGong market and was once again in Panda heaven. During my shopping spree ; my favourite coin dealer, Mr. Wang ZeMing at T137 told me NGC visits LuGong market 3-5th March 2014.

I was told;
You can grade coins for a fix rate of 110rmb. Submissions at booth B066 ; which btw has lots of slabbed NGC and PCGS beauties. Turn around is one week.

Will call NGC to check this info but wonder if someone at CCF can confirm this?

Also;
How often does these events happen?
Is also NCS present so coins can get conserved?

After a call with Becky of NGC I have at least confirmed that On-Site grading will be available. However, NCS is not present. An opportunity for "us Shanghainese" collectors.

Made my first submisson today through NGC rep at Lugong submission centre. Rep did not speak english so that was a little challenge. Used an "International show submission form".

Grading rates,
$20/pcs for coins < 300$.
$30/pcs for coins < 3000$, min 5 coins.

Based upon my last converstaions with both PCGS and NGC at the Nov. Beijing Coin Show in Oct., PCGS has a permament grading facility in Shanghai whereas, NGC has only "roving" graders who make the trip to China for certain shows or events. Please update if you have any new info.

This is correct. There are competing theories about whether having full-time graders or visiting teams is the best choice. The advantage of having graders stationed on-site is obvious – constant availability. The advantage of doing grading events is consistency; the same graders see the coins in China as in the US – and NGC does send its top graders to these events. Either way, it's a big step forward from having to send coins across the Pacific to get them graded.

Xu Hiao of 11coins.com at B66
Him and father Xu Jianximg are also rep/member of NGC/PCGS.

So, seems there are some local options in Shanghai.

Peter, thank you for verifying. Additionally, regarding PCGS submissions, all submissions from Hong Kong and Macau will NOT go to the PCGS Shanghai office for grading, but will go to USA.
